Intellectual Reading… Is It Worth It? | Tip Tuesday #6

What Are You Currently Reading?

Thinking about picking up a book to read but you also do not think that you have the time to actually do so? You are wrong! There is always time to read if you make it. Whether you are on break from a class or work or even the last hour before you hit the hay, there is always time to read even a chapter or two!

  • Make yourself a checklist when it comes to writing essays
  • Create a Goodreads account to keep track of your progress
  • Do some peer editing or revisions and then look over your piece as well (It is always good to have a fresh set of eyes look over your work as well!)
  • Do not forget to be confident in your own work, there is always room for improvement but you should not frown down upon your work!

Even reading a short chapter or two a day can do wonders when it comes to improving your vocabulary. You pick up on words that you come across while reading books and they can sneak their way past fiction and into real life when you are writing a paper or just when you are holding an intellectual conversation with someone with authority or even one of your professors!

Being able to hold an intellectual conversation with someone can really help boost your future career or just help you when it comes to holding an important conversation that can benefit you in the future. Just from personal experiences, I used to read almost all of the time until life got in the way and I just did not have the time to do anything at all. When I used to read multiple books a month, I picked up on more vocabulary that I implemented into my writing on essays or just tests in general. When it comes to college and trying to p your writing game, it is definitely very important to make sure that you are using dialogue that can relate to your writing level. If you are in college and taking college level classes, you want to be writing at college level because it would be better when you are writing resumes or if you are working on writing college entrance essays for when you transfer to a different college after your two years at community.
